Question 1. What prompted you seek election (or re-election) to office?
I’m seeking election to contribute locally. I am more deeply involved in our community and committed to making an impact for Waconia than I was in my 2022 campaign. I have the time, energy, and focus the role deserves. My family is deeply rooted here. With six grandchildren, seven in November, who attend church and school in Waconia further drives my passion for keeping the best parts of our community strong, while planning responsibly for the future. I want Waconia to remain a great place for them, and for all of us, as we move into the next decade.
Question 2: What is your long-term vision for the community?
My long-term vision is for Waconia to keep our city one of the best small cities in the country. To do that, we need thoughtful, steady growth that protects what makes Waconia special and strengthens long‑term value for our community. Prudent investment with clear priorities will help us enhance services and meet future needs. Growth should expand opportunity without adding unnecessary financial pressure on residents. With careful planning and responsible development, Waconia can modernize while keeping the quality of life that makes our community exceptional.
Question 3. How do local governments meet resident and operating needs in the face of rising concerns about local property taxes and state/federal funding challenges?
Local governments meet resident and operating needs by balancing prudent spending with thoughtful growth. First, cities must ensure current projects are necessary, efficient, and aligned with evolving community priorities and needs. Second, expanding the revenue base is essential. However, it must be done while managing staffing needs, traffic, and overall livability. Third, communities should stay open to new opportunities created by emerging technology and modern manufacturing. When leaders focus on fiscal discipline, responsible growth, and innovation, cities can improve services and infrastructure while reducing pressure on property taxes and navigating state and federal funding challenges.
Question 4: What approach should local governments take toward the development of data centers, and what factors — such as economic development, tax revenue, infrastructure, energy and water use, land use and impacts on nearby residents — should guide decisions about future projects?
My background includes 15 years working in the electrical industry supporting utilities worldwide as they modernized and strengthened the grid. That work, which included supplying equipment for sustainable infrastructure projects, gave me firsthand into how data centers interact with utility systems. Modern data centers are far more efficient, using limited labor and increasingly sustainable power and cooling. Local governments should weigh tax revenue, infrastructure capacity, energy/ water/land use, and nearby residents’ concerns. With careful evaluation, one or two well-planned facilities can provide meaningful economic benefit while fitting responsibly into the community.
Question 5: What in your background/experience best qualifies you for office?
My background best qualifies me through decades of leading complex organizations and consistently delivering results. Across roles at Terex, Toro, Honeywell, and GE, I improved operations, strengthened teams, and drove measurable gains in productivity, cost efficiency, and customer responsiveness. My work with utilities worldwide consisted of supporting grid modernization and sustainable infrastructure. This allowed me to enhance my expertise in balancing investment, long-term planning, and community impact. Locally, my involvement at St. Joe’s and the Knights of Columbus keeps me grounded in service and accountability. Throughout my career, I worked hard to raise a family and support every community I lived in, and that same commitment guides me here in Waconia.
